RETURN TO THE HOMEPAGE THE CUNARDERS |
The Britannia Restaurant Experience is a time honoured tradition of first class dining on board Cunard ships. Guests in balcony and standard staterooms can make their sweeping entrance down the grand staircase into the magnificent double height Britannia Restaurant on board the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. This is truly an extraordinary setting for an elegant dining experience. Photo: The First Class Dining Room on board the Queen Elizabeth. This traditional dining experience is the latest intepretation of first class dining and recalls the grand first class dining rooms on the Cunard liners from the golden age of ocean travel such as Cunard Line's renowned and famous pedigree of ocean liner traditions including the Mauretania, Lusitania, Aquitania and of course Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. The Cunard Queens first class dining rooms also had private dining rooms for added privacy and exclusivity. The successor to these grand first class dining rooms of yesteryear on the QE2 was the Britannia Restaurant. Later in 1990 this became the Britannia Grill. Today this traditional dining experience lives on and finds expression in the Britannia Restaurant on board the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria. This has been taken to new heights of luxury, reminiscent of the private dining rooms attached to the first class dining rooms on board the old Cunard Queens, with the introduction of the Britannia Club (on the upper levels of the Britannia Restaurant for Britannia Club Balcony guests. This club-like private salon serves guests in the AA Britannia Club Balcony category. This intimate single-seating dining room offers special a la carte selections in addition to the succulent Britannia Restaurant menu, with personalised White Star Service. Thus the first class dining experience continues into the 21st century. |
